The Atrium - Stormwater & Groundwater Treatment

The Atrium is a new office development located at 1818 Fairview Avenue E in Seattle, WA along the shore of Lake Union. Notable neighbors to the south include Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, UW Medicine’s South Lake Union Campus, and Amazon’s world headquarters. The four-story building contains an expansive atrium entrance, roughly 205,000 square feet of rentable space, houses two levels of below grade parking with 260+ stalls and boasts its own private dock with water access. The general contractor, BNBuilders, reached out to WaterTectonics for help treating both groundwater and construction site stormwater to meet Administrative Order discharge limits due to historic contamination of petroleum products PAHs and VOCs. A 300gpm WaveIonics electrocoagulation (EC) system with automated controls and an alert notification package was used in conjunction with pH adjustment, media filtration, and granular activated carbon (GAC) to meet discharge limits in this environmentally critical location.
