The Stone Way redevelopment project in Seattle transforms a formerly contaminated property into a new mixed-use development featuring apartment residences, ground-floor retail and commercial space, and an underground parking garage. Due to historic site contamination, the project is being completed under an Administrative Order, requiring heightened environmental oversight and strict compliance with Washington State regulations.
WaterTectonics was engaged to provide stormwater and groundwater treatment services to ensure all discharges met regulatory limits throughout construction activities. In addition to treatment services, WaterTectonics supported the project from a permitting and compliance standpoint by procuring Notice of Intent (NOI) coverage under the Construction Stormwater General Permit (CSWGP) and preparing the project’s Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
Our scope included the deployment of a 100 gallon per minute electrocoagulation (EC) treatment system paired with granular activated carbon (GAC) to effectively address turbidity, pH, metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). In addition to treatment system deployment, WaterTectonics provided monthly Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) inspections, as required by the Department of Ecology, to support ongoing compliance and proactive site management. By combining advanced treatment technologies with expert regulatory support and field services, WaterTectonics helped ensure environmentally responsible redevelopment of this complex site.
