The Renton Transit Center redevelopment is part of a broader effort to improve regional transit connectivity and accommodate future growth in South King County. The project will relocate and modernize the existing facility, creating a more efficient hub for current and planned bus routes while enhancing access, circulation, and supporting infrastructure. The site is impacted by legacy soil and groundwater contamination and is governed by an Administrative Order (AO). Construction activities required reliable treatment of stormwater and groundwater to meet strict discharge requirements while maintaining project timelines.
WaterTectonics provided a complete treatment solution to support ongoing construction activities at the site. The system was designed to address a wide range of contaminants commonly associated with historically impacted urban and industrial properties including TSS/turbidity, pH, oils, BTEX, metals, PCBs, PAHs, and VOCs . The treatment train included electrocoagulation (EC) followed by granular activated carbon (GAC) polishing, capable of removing suspended solids, dissolved contaminants, and organic compounds. The system was configured to treat flows up to 400 gallons per minute, providing consistent performance under variable site conditions. By delivering a turnkey treatment solution and ongoing operational support, WaterTectonics helped keep this critical infrastructure project moving forward while protecting downstream water quality.
