For over 100 years, Seattle Children’s Hospital has provided critical pediatric and adolescent medical treatment regardless of a family’s ability to pay. In order to keep up with the region’s growth rate, the hospital is working to expand its current 250 inpatient bed capacity to between 500 and 600 beds in the next 15-20 years. Phase 2 of the hospital expansion is currently underway. This phase, dubbed as “Building Care” will add on an eight-story, 310,000 square foot structure with a scheduled opening to take place in Spring of 2022.
The project’s General Contractor, Sellen Construction, brought in WaterTectonics to handle both the stormwater discharge permitting and SWPPP (stormwater pollution prevention plan) permitting for the project. In order to treat construction stormwater runoff, Sellen once again reached out to WaterTectonics. We mobilized a 300 gallon per minute AcistBox to address both the turbidity and high pH. The automated system provides real-time water quality monitoring and is preforming with zero non-compliant discharges.
