The Seattle Aquarium is expanding along the downtown waterfront between Pike Place Market and Piers 59 and 60. The new 50,000 square foot Ocean Pavilion will sit adjacent to the existing aquarium. Opening as early as 2023, the main draw will be a 325,000 gallon warm-water tank with 6 foot long sharks and 6 foot wide sting rays that are native to the South Pacific.
WaterTectonics is working with the project’s General Contractor, Turner Construction, to provide both National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and King County Industrial Waste (KCIW) permitting. WT is using WaveIonics electrocoagulation technology in combination with carbon filtration polishing to treat the construction site stormwater at 100 gallons per minute in order to meet strict Administrative Order limits.
