The Paul Allen Brain Institute is one of the leading organizations in the world driving advances in neuroscience by deciphering, unraveling, and cataloguing brain functions. With $300 million of dedicated new funding from founding philanthropist, Paul Allen, the institute is building a new 245,000 square foot building in South Lake Union. Historically, the parcel was home to the William O. McKay Ford and Pacific Lincoln Mercury auto showrooms. As part of the preservation efforts, the terra cotta facades and interior panels from the auto showroom will be integrated into the new building design. WaterTectonics worked with GLY Construction to provide multiple phases of water treatment for the project, which required 24/7 dewatering work at 300gpm and then 600gpm treatment rates. WaveIonics electrocoagulation technology in combination with carbon filtration polishing was utilized for on-site treatment prior to discharge to nearby Lake Union.
