WaterTectonics partnered with a confidential client in Oregon to upgrade and retrofit an existing wastewater treatment system, improving performance, increasing capacity, and reducing ongoing maintenance requirements. The facility, which was undergoing expansion, needed a more robust solution to handle higher flowrates and increased contaminant loadings.
The original system relied on bag filtration and granular activated carbon (GAC), requiring frequent media changeouts and significant operator attention. To address these challenges, WaterTectonics designed and implemented a comprehensive treatment upgrade incorporating chemical treatment, pH adjustment, a slant plate clarifier, and a filter press for solids management. This integrated approach improved removal of total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, and metals while significantly reducing maintenance demands on downstream processes.
Working within the constraints of an existing building, the system was carefully engineered to fit a tight footprint while maximizing treatment capacity and operational efficiency. WaterTectonics conducted treatability testing early in the project, allowing the design to be refined and expanded as the client’s treatment goals evolved.
The upgraded system also incorporates advanced automation and remote monitoring capabilities, providing operators with improved control, visibility, and reliability. The result is a modernized, state-of-the-art treatment facility capable of supporting the client’s growth while delivering consistent compliance and performance.
