WaterTectonics was contacted by a local leader in the metals recycling industry for assistance in reaching defined stormwater discharge benchmarks at their 20+ acre shredding site. The customer was looking to reduce cadmium, copper, lead, nickel and zinc concentrations in their stormwater effluent. WaterTectonics designed, delivered, mobilized and commissioned a multi-stage water treatment system to accommodate varying water characteristics. The system consisted of a complete 600 gallon per minute WaveIonics electrocoagulation system, clarification, filtration and carbon polishing. An Automated Operator system incorporated control and adjustment of all system processes to a single touch-screen interface, and a water quality discharge valve was utilized to ensure that all effluent water met operator-defined turbidity and pH standards prior to final discharge.
