This customer manufactures attachments for large machinery typically used in the construction, demolition, and metal recycling industries. The operation requires constant forklift traffic and moving around of large, heavy, painted and unpainted metal parts. When it rains at the facility, stormwater comes into contact with these parts, as well as brake dust from forklift activities, and runs down the drain. The site discharges into a local fish spawning creek and was required to implement treatment controls to reduce turbidity, copper, and zinc in its stormwater effluent. WaterTectonics designed, built, and installed a 100gpm electrocoagulation treatment system with settling tanks, backwashing filtration, and cartridge filters to help the facility meet its discharge goals.
