WaterTectonics was brought in to help design a grey water recovery system on the island of Maui. Beachside showers are common in the area and the client wanted to reclaim water from the showers to reduce waste and protect the environment. WaterTectonics designed a system to take the used shower water and treat it with a combination of media filtration, clarification, and ultraviolet light. The treated water met irrigation standards and can be used to water nearby native vegetation without additional strain on the island’s water supply.
