A confidential industrial redevelopment project along the Duwamish Waterway required robust stormwater and groundwater treatment solutions to meet heightened regulatory oversight in an environmentally sensitive and highly impaired receiving water body. Construction activities were performed under an Administrative Order and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) requirements, necessitating advanced treatment and consistent regulatory reporting.
WaterTectonics supported construction activities under General Contractor Gary Merlino Construction Company, providing electrocoagulation (EC) treatment systems paired with granular activated carbon (GAC) to address turbidity, pH, petroleum hydrocarbons, PAHs, PCBs, VOCs, and dissolved contaminants. Treatment systems were deployed across a 26 acre site, including the strategic relocation of an existing EC system to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime as construction phases evolved.
WaterTectonics provided multiple EC treatment systems ranging from 150 to 800 gallons per minute, with redundant capacity to support varying flow conditions. Our scope also included weekly water quality analysis and reporting to meet Washington State Department of Ecology permit requirements, ensuring continuous compliance throughout construction activities. By combining flexible equipment deployment, high-capacity treatment, and ongoing regulatory support, WaterTectonics helped enable compliant construction progress along one of the region’s most closely regulated waterways.
