This $56.6 million construction project will widen the NW/SW run of the Capital Circle Highway to six lanes and provide facilities for both bicycles and pedestrians. The project includes significant environmental mitigation land acquisition in the Gum Swamp area. A 90′ bridge will be constructed over Gum Creek, improving the hydrology of Gum Swamp. Additionally, wildlife crossings will be constructed under the roadway, both north and south of the bridge.
WaterTectonics provided a 1000gpm AcistBox chemical treatment system for reducing turbidity in the stormwater runoff in this environmentally fragile area. The WaterTectonics team also helped with permitting support, equipment manufacturing, and project commissioning.
