Australian Coal Mine – Process Water Treatment

WaterTectonics worked with project partners to deploy this 1100gpm permanent treatment facility at an active mining operation north of Sydney, Australia. This mine operates in the Bulli coal seam, with the majority of its product being hard coking coal while also producing small amounts of steaming blend coal. Both the coking coal, used for making and the steaming blend, used for power generation, are sold to European and Asian markets. WaterTectonics designed a solution to treat mine process and dewatering water to meet compliance with all surface discharge requirements, which included very low targets for many heavy metals. The final solution incorporated WaveIonics electrocoagulation, ultrafiltration, and other supporting technologies.
