BNBuilders’ redevelopment of the “Gun Building” on Eastlake Avenue, resulted in construction site stormwater that needed to be treated. For the majority of the project, site water went to the combined sewer as this was the only discharge location. However, when groundwater dewatering became necessary, WaterTectonics obtained a NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) permit that allowed our client to directly discharge to Lake Union (adjacent to the project) saving them money by reducing fees paid when discharging to sewer. The project was issued an Administrative Order and the groundwater was treated separately with GAC and discharged to the lake meeting stringent Administrative Order limits.
