Designed by Crawford Architects and built by Bayley Construction, the new headquarters for the Seattle Seahawks is located on the shores of Lake Washington in the City of Renton. Previously, the 19 acre industrial site had been home to a coal tar refinery and creosote plant. As part of an agreement between the City of Renton and the Washington State Department of Ecology, Paul Allen’s Vulcan Real Estate agreed to remediate the site and improve the environmental climate of the area through redevelopment. WaterTectonics was selected by Bayley Construction to provide water treatment equipment and service support for the project – a key element in the overall site remediation plan. WaterTectonics provided five distinct water treatment systems for the project, three of which discharged directly into nearby Lake Washington. The American Council of Engineering Companies’ 2009 Engineering Excellence Awards recognized this project with a Gold Award in their environmental category.
