Located in Seattle’s University District, The University of Washington Medical Center is well known across the United States for providing exceptional patient care and for pioneering innovative medical research in partnership with the University of Washington’s School of Medicine. As part of a $170M multi-phase expansion project, Skanska USA was selected for pre-design and construction of the 163,000 square foot Phase 1 project, currently scheduled to open in Fall 2012. The project includes construction of a new 125,000 square foot building that will increase space for premature babies, adult patients, and diagnostic imaging. Working as a subcontractor to Skanska, WaterTectonics provided a turnkey, mobile water treatment system for the project. Working in a dense urban area on an extremely tight footprint, Skanska needed a solution that took up a minimum amount of space. The WaterTectonics system occupies a 20’x8’ footprint, is trailer-mounted, and can process water from the site at a rate of up to 300 gallons per minute.
