The new world headquarters for online retail giant Amazon.com includes 11 total buildings in a five-phase, muiti-year project that brings millions of square feet of new office and retail space to the heart of urban Seattle, completely revitalizing the South Lake Union neighborhood and surrounding area. With multiple buildings targeting LEED Gold Certification and significantly reduced energy consumption rates versus conventional office buildings, the South Lake Union neighborhood is expected to become a certified green neighborhood under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Neighborhood Development national pilot program.
