The 959-foot-long SR304 Pedestrian Access Tunnel project connected the Bremerton Transit Center (BTC) with Burwell Street in order to divert ferry traffic away from downtown streets, improve pedestrian safety, and reduce overall congestion. The project also improved access to the Bremerton Transit Center for incoming traffic. WaterTectonics was hired hired by prime contractor Tri-State Construction to design and provide a 600gpm treatment system to process combined stormwater and groundwater flows. This multi-stage, custom treatment solution utilized chemical treatment, carbon filtration, automated pH adjustment, and micron filtration for treatment of heavy metals, TPH, BTEX, VOCs, SVOCs, and PAHs – all legacy contamination discovered from past site usage.
